Rules and Norms

Group Rules

1) Center disabled and multiply marginalized voices.

Nondisabled people, listen more than you speak. Understand that this space was created to make space for disabled, sick, mad, and neurodivergent people, and you are here as an ally and comrade.

2) Safe(r) Space

Make sure everyone feels safe. Harassment of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.

3) Limit on Promotions / Crowdfunding

Many of us struggle financially. It is okay to post asks for resources or advertise your product or service. Please limit posts soliciting donations or advertising something to once per week.

4) Be Careful

We don't know everyone in our community. Take precautions when meeting someone new for the first time.

5) Prioritize Accessibility for Everyone

DO NOT share images in this group unless the information is impossible to share another way. Include image descriptions. All events must have a specific contact and contact information listed for access requests.

6) Care for Each Other

Mutual aid means taking responsibility to care for each other with no hierarchies or systems of control.

7) Be Local

All group members must live in the Pittsburgh Metro Area.

8) Funding Requests

All requests for money must be posted publicly. DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE GROUP MEMBERS to request money. If you want to be anonymous you may message an admin to post for you!

Facebook Specific Norms

• Do not delete posts without first contacting a moderator. "Dirty deleting" or deleting posts to avoid accountability hurts our ability to learn and grow together as a community.

• Visual content, including images, colored backgrounds, stickers, GIFs, etc, are not allowed in the group. In effort to keep things as accessible as possible for folks using screen readers, the Facebook group is text only.

• Do not use the names of prescription medications in posts. Facebook AI will delete the post and ban users under their drug policies. You may talk AROUND the names of drugs (for example, "a common asthma medicine that starts with a."
